Meeting Sekhmet: When Anger Becomes Medicine

Sekhmet's Mythology

Sekhmet is an Egyptian Goddess symbolising fierce, untamed life-force energy. She is the daughter of the sun God, Ra, and mirrors the intensity of the sun at its peak: radiant, fiery, uncompromising, life-giving, and potentially devastating if not respected.

Her name means 'The Powerful One', and whilst she embodies destruction, anger and rage, she is also celebrated as a healer, protector of truth, and Goddess of medicine.

We can remember that healing often comes through the alchemy of fire and the destruction of outdated patterns and structures. We can also remember that the human experience is nuanced. Our anger is not inherently good or bad; like fire itself, it depends on how consciously we hold it. Left unattended, it can become destructive. Met with awareness and compassion, it can become a powerful catalyst for healing and transformation.
