Sacred Cycling to Harness Your Energy & Power

I’d like to begin by asking you a simple question: where are you in your cycle right now?

Whether you’re cycling regularly, navigating menopause, or somewhere beyond or between, we are cyclical beings. Aligning with the moon offers a natural rhythm to reflect on, helping regulate energy and reconnect to your body’s innate wisdom.

Last year, I found myself bleeding with the full moon, embodying archetypal crone energy. This year, I’m synced with the new moon, embracing the creative, mother archetype. These shifts have taught me how deeply connected we are to lunar rhythms. Below, I’ll share a chart of the moon cycles so you can explore how they align with your own cycle, should you feel called to do so.

In a world that expects us to show up the same every day, I invite you to rebel, go against the tide— find your own rhythm, honour your unique nature.

You possess a golden recipe for harnessing your energy, allowing you to be productive, to create and excel in the world, then gather your energy back in to nurture and rejuvenate for the next cycle.

This cyclical dance isn’t weakness—it’s the key to balance and resilience.

This model permits you to take rest when you need to rest, even if society says it’s not ok during the day - let's challenge these assumptions - why not?

We are expected to show up the same day in, day out and throughout the seasons.

The same. But we are not machines.

It is thought that men have 24-hour cycles, whereas women 28-day cycles, mirroring the moon (of course, there is variation around this; we are all different).

We are expected to work 8 hours a day even in the midsts of winter on top of an expectation to socialise, parent, run a house, hold everything in our hands whilst the nature around us (and our own energy levels) is telling us it’s time to be more still, more restful, hibernate, gather our energy, nourish ourselves.

Our menstrual cycle mirrors the seasons:

Everything is a microcosm of the macrocosm. And within our monthly cycles, we can help ourselves harness our power.

The Journey

This provides you with the energy you need so you can show up and manifest when the light encourages you out of the ‘womb’ and into the next lifecycle, with the extra vitality you have cultivated.

This can be real or metaphorical.

I advocate that this attunement to nature's cycles is especially helpful if you are not experiencing a regular monthly cycle, as it can help anchor a routine that benefits your energy levels and also helps encourage your body toward a more regular cycle.

Whether you bleed or not, aligning with this rhythm grounds you in a deeper truth: you are not linear. You are cyclical. And within that truth lies your power.

Here's a chart that demonstrates where your energy might be focused in relation to your moon cycle:

I really recommend the book ‘Wild Power’ by Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer if this cycle awareness element is resonating.
